From American Raver to Cyprus Rave Mom

If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be living in Cyprus, raising two kids, and throwing family-friendly raves, I probably would have laughed. But here I am—an American mom, a lifelong raver, and the founder of Rave Baby Rave, working to get families like mine get to enjoy music, dance, and the magic of rave culture together.

The Rave Life: Before & After Motherhood

I’ve always had a deep love for music. Born in New York, raised in the South, and molded by the West Coast, my taste has always been a spectrum—but raving stole my heart. It was never just about the music; it was about the community, the freedom, the escape.

I started raving at 19, back when I was in the Air Force, as a way to disconnect from the intensity of my job. Raving felt like my secret world—a place where I could fully let go and be myself before stepping back into "real life." Over time, the love of the music, the culture, and the energy became such a big part of me that I couldn’t imagine my life without it.

And then, I became a mom.

For a lot of people, that’s the moment when the party supposedly ends. But I never saw it that way. I knew that in order to pour into my children, I had to refill my own cup—and raving has always been my way of doing that. As a single mom for eight years, sometimes festivals and shows were my only real break for months at a time. That time for myself was sacred. It kept me grounded, energized, and reminded me that I was more than just “mom.”

Now, I’m married, and my youngest is just as obsessed with music and the PLUR culture as I am. My husband and I both believe that parenting isn’t the end of fun—it’s where it begins.

From the U.S. to Cyprus: A New Adventure

My move to Cyprus was unexpected—really unexpected.

My husband joked with his team in June 2022 about opening a new branch of their business in Cyprus. By July, we were living in Limassol. I honestly didn’t even know Cyprus wasn’t Greece until I landed (oops).

That first year was long. I didn’t know anyone, and I had no idea that Cyprus even had the incredible music scene that it does. But once I found my people, I knew I was here to stay. And not just to attend events—I wanted to be part of the growth, part of changing the stigma around raving, and showing people that music is for EVERYONE.

The Birth of Rave Baby Rave

Rave Baby Rave started because I kept meeting too many moms who love EDM but felt like they couldn’t go out to shows. They didn’t have childcare, they didn’t have time, and they didn’t want the guilt of leaving their kids just to go dance.

At the same time, my family was always looking for things to do together—and I didn’t just mean kid-centered activities. I wanted something where my teen, my toddler, my husband, and I could all enjoy ourselves equally.

Most events in Cyprus are built for one age group. If you have a toddler, you go to toddler things. If you have a teen, you find teen-friendly events. But what about families who love music? Where’s the space for us?

We even flew to the UK just to attend a family rave—only to meet other families from Cyprus who had flown out for the exact same reason! That’s when it clicked. Why were we all traveling for something that should exist right here, at home?

And so, Rave Baby Rave was born.

Breaking the "Parents Can’t Party" Stigma

There’s this unspoken rule in parenting that says: Once you have kids, your fun is over. I refuse to believe that.

Moms, especially, carry this weird guilt. You don’t want to feel selfish for going out, but you NEED that serotonin boost. You need to feel like yourself—not just "Mom" but [your name].

Rave Baby Rave is my way of changing that narrative.

I want families to know that they can enjoy music together. That their kids can grow up loving the music, not just the party scene. That they can have fun while knowing their children are safe, entertained, and happy.

We’ve made sure our events cater to everyone:
🎭 Kids can be wild, explore, and have fun.
🎧 Parents can dance, enjoy the music, and let loose.
🍹 There’s a full bar, snacks, and mocktails for all.

At our last event, we had moms breakdancing on the floor in white pants. It was EPIC. That’s exactly the energy I want to bring to Cyprus.

What’s Next for Rave Baby Rave?

The response has been incredible. Parents keep telling us that they haven’t had that much fun in years—and that’s exactly why we do it.

I want Rave Baby Rave to grow into a full-fledged community in Cyprus. A place where families can come together for music, fun, and memories. A place where every event is different, unique, and magical.

And who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll take this global.

To Parents Who Miss the Music…

If you love raving but feel like you can’t be part of the scene anymore, my advice is simple:

Find family-friendly events.
Let your kids be wild and free while you take it all in.
Make memories—because they’re just as core for YOU as they are for them.

Parenting isn’t the end of the party—it’s just the beginning. See you on the dance floor. 🎶💜
